Darren explains, “Along with my hospital clinical workload, I’m heavily involved with improving Indigenous health, particularly as a member of the Indigenous Respiratory Outreach Care (IROC) Program. An IROC team consists of a Respiratory Physician, a Nurse, an Indigenous Project officer and a Scientist. A patient can visit an IROC clinic and have all their respiratory needs met within their own communities. My passion for Indigenous health stems from being a Jagera descendant (South Brisbane tribe) and personally experiencing the tragic effects of ill health on many members of the Indigenous side of my family.
