Before the coming of white settlement the Ugurapul people walked the lands west of Ipswich.

The area we now know as the scenic rim is where the last full blood of that tribe lived and died. Susan Bunjoey is buried sitting up facing east on Bells farm Chochin near Boonah.

The Uguralpul people roamed this beautiful land for many thousands of years. In the 1820’s Europeans settled here with them. The visitors saw the people of the land as peaceful and happy in their environment.

They respected the way of life of the Uguralpul people, and acknowledged that the people had hunted and roamed the area for many thousands of years

So the new settlers built their homes, with little disruption to their neighbors. The Ugarapul people were able to maintain their culture. Hold their corroborees, hunt and roam the land. So it was not unusual for the white people to see or even be invited to some corroborees.
